George Zimmer (born November 21, 1948) is an American entrepreneur. He is widely known as the founder, former Executive Chairman (1973 – 2013) and former CEO (1973 – 2011) of the Men's Wearhouse, a men's clothing retailer that has more than 1,200 stores 〔(Menswearhouse.com )〕 across the U.S. and Canada under the brands Moores, Men's Wearhouse and K&G Superstores. After leaving his executive position with the company, he continued as the company's spokesperson, until he was fired on June 19, 2013.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Men's Wearhouse fires the 'I guarantee it' guy )〕 Zimmer is currently the Chairman, CEO and Founder of Generation Tux, an online tuxedo and suit rental platform, and zTailors, a national network of on-demand tailors for both men and women.
==Early life and education==
Zimmer was born to a Jewish family〔Marcus Wohlsen, (Soros Gives $1 Millioin to Pro-Pot Campaign," ) AP/JWeekly, Oct. 28, 2010.〕 in New York City, New York. Zimmer attended primary school in Scarsdale, New York, before studying at Washington University in St. Louis where he was a member of the Phi Chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu, and where he received an A.B. in Economics in 1970. Upon graduation, he worked as a substitute teacher before joining his father in the clothing manufacturing business. Later in the early 1970s, he worked as a purchasing agent and salesman in Hong Kong and Dallas.〔
